The service conditions of fastening bolts and common failure mode are described in this paper with a cover fastening bolt at HWD100--400 fuel pump of some company as the main object of study. The reasons for the failure of the fastening bolts are analyzed through analysis method of macro--morphology, chemical composition tests, microstructure analysis, hardness testing analysis. The results show that the fastening bolt failure is mainly caused by stress concentration, which is produced by the too large pre--tightening force in the installation of the fastening bolt.以某企业HWD100-400燃料油泵端盖的紧固螺栓为研究对象，介绍了紧固螺栓的服役条件及常见失效形式，并通过宏观形貌分析、化学成分测试、金相组织分析、硬度测试分析等分析方法，分析了该紧固螺栓断裂的原因。结果表明，紧固螺栓在安装时预紧力过大，而产生的应力集中造成该紧固螺栓失效。
