Key words:Traditional Shaper,bidirectional planning,planer transformationTraditional Shaper can only do one-·way plan·ning,i.e. the returning of traditional Shaper is akind of idle motion. This characteristic determinesthe low efficiency of traditional shaper machine.A1-though traditional Shaper has a quick return charac-teristic,this is not a fundamental solution to the solvelow efficiency problem and make no use of the deple-tion problem[1].Since there exists only one planetool for the traditional shaper,the real cutting edge ofthis machine is very limited. Moreover,the machi-ning accuracy is dificult to get improved due to thefact that the planning tends knife marks formed onthe surface of the work piece[2].Bi-planning Shap-er innovative design methods are described in a lot ofliterature and comprehensive comparisons found thatmost of these designs are suitable for the productionof new planer,but for present mainly used traditionalShaper transform ation still exist the problems such ashigh cost and complex structure.This paper proposesReceived:2013-O1-22ZHENG Weigan.E-mail:zfeidiao### 126.cona simple bi-planning transformation method for thetraditional Shaper,i.e.,the traditional planer struc-ture will not be changed and the reverse plane toolwill be added and controled by electromagnet to a-void the trouble of ram constant force is0kineticmechanism design.Since the return motion of shaperis adopted,the eficiency machining accuracy of thetraditional shaper wil be tremendously improved。

Due to the simple and reliable characteristics, atransformation experiment is conducted in this paperand the feasibility of this design has been verifledbased on the B6050 type of Shaper。

3.Design and Realization of Shaper bidi-rectional planningIn the direction o±planer forward movement,there is a certain angle of two plane tools which areinstalled behind the forw ard plane tool at the sametool holder clamping shaft.The front one is forw ardplane tool and the back one is reverse plane tool;Inthe direction of work piece plan,it is shifted by acertain distance and able to adjust the pitch size tomake reverse plane tool just planning on the crest be-tween two forward planning marks. Due to the high-speed of return motion,the machining accuracy couldbe improved。

The electromagnet is installed at tool holderclamping shaft and the current will be turned on or ofby the travel switch. Electromagnet connects toolholder clamping shaft though a rod.Then,all theparts including two knifes, pressed blocks, turretshaft and clamping bolts are assembled at the bidirec-tional cuter head.When the electromagnet is not en-ergized,the iron will not be sucked,the clampingshaft will not be raised.and the forward plane toolwill be in upright position,the reverse plane tool willtilt backwards and the forward tip will be lower thanthe reverse one. During the forward movement,theforw ard plane tool will be working en the electromagnet is energized, the iron will be sucked,theclamping shaft is lifted up,the reverse plane tool willbe in the upright position.the forw ard plane tool isdeclined and the reverses tip is lower than the for-ward one.Therefore.the reverse plane tool will workduring the return movement of shaper。

The control system consists of the travel switchand an AC contactor.The AC contactor is controlledby the trip switch. However,the electromagnet iscontrolled by the AC contactor to ensure a replace-ment in each planning end·-of-stroke dual planer time·ly。

4.Specific Implementation methodIn Fig.1:1)Forward Plane Tool(8),Reverse Plane Tool(10),through the Tool holder clamping Shaft(2)lo-eating hole,Tool holder clamping Shaft(2)Passthrough Tool holder(1 1)through Hole,by ClampingBolts(1),Presed Block 1(7),Pressed Block 2(9)Fixed,forming a whole planning head.The tool hold-er(11)be hanged on Tool Holder Seat(12)by thepin(13).The pin(13)One end with a coter pin(14).The tool holder(11)lower end of the rightside against the Tool Holder Seat(1 2)lower end ofthe sudden stage。thus Forward Plane Tool(8)is theupright position,the Reverse Plane Tool(10)Rightangled inclined,and the Reverse Plane Tool top high-er than the Forward Plane Tool top。

2)The electromagnet(4)is installed at Front-end of Tool holder clamping Shaft(2)and is con-nected by the rod(5).The electromagnet(4)isfixed on the Electromagnet holder(6)by bolts andthe Electromagnet holder(6)is fixed on Tool HolderSeat(12)。

3)As shown of left view in Fig.1,twice are noton the same axis in the front and real"and are separa-ted by an appropriate distance along the work piecetranslational directi0n。
