NEW CONE AND JAW CRUSHER DESIGNS
G. P. Sobolev and V. G. Fedorov UDC 621.926.2 (047)(100)
Original designs of cone crushers with hydraulic devices and double-jawed jaw crushers have been
developed abroad during the past few years.
Hydraulic shaft supports in cone crushers are designed to reduce wear of the eccentric insert and to
control the gap between the jaws.
Hydraulic devices to vary eccentricity were first used in the "Hydrocone" crusher. This crusher
[1] was fundamentally the same as existing designs with a number of their shortcoming removed.
The method of the suspending and supporting of the crushing cone shaft is worth noting [2, 3]. Figure
1 shows the hydraulic support of the crushing cone shaft suspended at the top by a spherical hinge.
Crushing cone 15, 18 is located in the crushing ring 17 which is lined on the inside with two rings 2
and 3. Ring 17 is clamped by anchor bolts 16 between base 1 and upper ring 14. The legs of the cross-
beam 13 are mounted on ring 14. The crossbeam supports the housing 12 of the support of the crushing
shaft upper bearing 9. The loadinghopper 5 for feeding the material to be crushed is mounted on upper
ring 14. The upper spherical seK-adjusting bearing 9 of the crushing cone is installed in housing 12. The
bearing consists of two outer bushings 6 and 7 and sphere 8 which can rotate in all directions. The crusher
cone can move in an opening in this sphere. The cone shaft4 is doweled to the sphere so that the sphere
rotates with the shaft. The shaft can move axially relative to the sphere. The upper end of the shaft has
