Abstract  The method and principle of the parametric design for electro- mechanical vehicular drivetrain are
studied. The impac t of the t raction motor drive characteristic on drivetrain performance is analyzed, the relations of
traction motor po wer rat ing, e xtended speed and shif ts of drivetrain are investigated. Furthermore, a method of util izing
motor s f ric t ional po wer is brought forward, in which the e xtended speed of the motor can be enlarged. Several exam
ples are presented to demonstrate that a much more reasonable solution to the motor power and shif ts of drivetrain can
be achie ved, which is based on these strategies of parametric design.
