The surface texturing technology has aroused great attention of worldwide researchers. Theoretical research and engineering practice have indicated that surface texturing may significantly improve the tribo- logical performance of contact surfaces. The recent research on surface texturing for improving tribological performance is summarized and analyzed in the paper from the anti-friction principle and application on surface texturing.
