The impact of some structural ele- ments, such as length and diameter ratio of bearings, stave shape, water groove form, facing layer thickness and hardness of stave, on the tribological performance and capacity of stem bearings was analyzed and concluded. The design principles of structural elements were proposed for the ship stern tube water-lubricated rubber bearing, which will provide theory and technical support for engineering applications.
