The function of knockout drum（KO drum） is to prevent flare raining fire.The unreasonable design of KO drum,and the drop in flare gas can not be separated are the main reasons of raining fire.The paper described the design of flare KO drum,including the flow design and the size calculation.And some design ideas were proposed to provide reference for process design of the flare knockout drum in chemical plant.
