Foreword

According to the requirements of "Notice on Printing and Distributing the Development and Revision Plan (the First Batch) of National Engineering Construction Standards in 2006 (in the first batch)" (JIANBIAO [2006] No.77) issued by the Ministry of Construction, this code was revised on the basis of the former national standard GB 50116-98 "Code for Design of Automatic Fire Alarm System" by the Shenyang Fire Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security jointly with the organizations concerned.
During the revision of this code, the revision group made a deep and extensive investigation according to the relevant national laws and regulations and technical standards and summarized the lessons from the fire hazards and the practical experience in engineering for the automatic fire alarm system in China. Moreover, they referred to the domestic and foreign relevant standard standards, adopted the advanced scientific research achievement, solicited for opinions of organizations for design, supervision, construction, product manufacture and fire supervision and finalized this code finally through review.
This code comprises 12 chapters and 7 appendixes, mainly including general provisions, terms, basic requirements, automatic control design, fire detector choice, setting of equipment, fire alarm and control system installed in dwelling building, combustible gas detection alarm system, alarm and monitoring for electric fire protection, power supply, wiring, automatic fire alarm system for typical place.
This revision of this code is the first overall revision. The necessary supplement and amendment based on the basic frame of the former code are made with the reasonable content in the former one reserved, including:
1. To make the code more complete and more practical, the engineering design requirements are supplemented for the line-type fire detector, aspirated smoke fire detector, combustible gas detector, fire display panel, sounder equipment for fire emergency purposes, gas fire extinguishing controller, graph indicator in fire control center, fire telephone, fire alarm device and other equipment or parts like module.
2. Engineering design requirements for alarm and monitoring for electric fire protection, fire alarm system installed in dwelling buildings and combustible gas detection alarm system are added.
3. Engineering design requirements for automatic fire alarm system used in the typical places like traffic tunnel, tank farm and cable tunnel are added.
4. Fire linkage controlled engineering design requirements are refined to make the code more operable.
Provisions printed in bold type in this code are compulsory provisions and must be enforced strictly.
The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development is in charge of the administration of this code and the explanation of the compulsory provisions, the Security Bureau Fire Department is responsible for the routine management work and the Shenyang Fire Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security is responsible for the explanation of specific technical contents. During the process of implementing this code, in combination with the engineering practice, the organizations are appreciated to carefully generalized experience, pay attention to accumulation of data and give the feedback of their comments and suggestions to the Shenyang Fire Research Institute of Ministry of Public Security (address: Road Wenda No. 218-20A, Huanggu District, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, 110034, China) for future reference in revision.
